Aspiring catwalk fashion models had their first chance to show what they were made of in front of a packed crowd of industry elite and local celebrities.The prestigious runway-model search, hosted by leading fashion channel, Fashiontv will feature aspiring female web modeling models aged 18 to 28.
Heats for the awards will begin tomorrow and will be held each week leading up to the the final on September 25.
Industry elite say the awards will provide invaluable and unique experience and exposure to those hoping to pursue a career in catwalk modelling.
The Gold Coast venue winner will win an all-expenses paid trip to the fashiontv Diamond Model 2009 grand final.

TW Steel Miss SuperGP is the newest model competition to hit the circuit and it's on track to hit Strutters night club this weekend.
Following in the tradition of Miss Indy, this new contest is all about sport pictures on many blogs bikinis and stunning women.
The judges are looking for a model who is like an A1 race car -“A head turner with a finely tuned body and a turbo-charged personality”.
This Saturday night, seven Rockhampton models are lined up in fasmous night club to compete in the first heat.
The contest is open to any unmarried girl over 18, who will compete in her own sportswear and swimwear web modeling to their own choice of music and choreography.
There are four heats in Rockhampton, with the grand final on September 12.
The winner will not only head to the national finals to be part of the Miss SuperGP Race Team, but will win their own website blogs made from Almost Anything and prizes from Hairmoda, Michael Hill, Daltons Restaurant and Anthony Vidlers Vfit personal training.
And each competitor will take home a gift-pack worth $100 from Rophi Retreat.
Last year Rockhampton beauty Amelia Thorpe won the competition.
